DARDR Niki (2019)
This Domestic Homicide Review (DHR) was published in December 2019 and examines the circumstances surrounding the murder of Niki, who was murdered by her former partner Ralph in December 2017.
This DARDR identified the following learning themes:
- Professional recognition of the risks associated with separation from an abusive partner
- Missed opportunities to make routine and targetted enquiries into possible domestic abuse
- Missed opportunities to refer to specialist domestic abuse services
- Coercion and control and the support needed to challenge abusive behaviours and the normalisation of these.
These lessons aim to strengthen safeguarding responses and prevent similar tragedies in the future.
