DARDR Bailey (2025)

This Domestic Abuse Related Death Review (DARDR) was published in July 2025 and examines the tragic death of Bailey, aged 22, who was murdered by her partner in August 2022.

Commissioned by Salford Community Safety Partnership, the review explores agency involvement, Bailey’s experiences of long-term abuse and exploitation, and opportunities for earlier intervention.

Key learning themes include:

  • The need for stronger professional curiosity
  • Routine enquiry in health and social care settings
  • Improved recognition of links between domestic abuse and criminal/sexual exploitation
  • Better multi-agency coordination when victims relocate for safety
  • The review also highlights gaps in safeguarding responses for individuals with complex vulnerabilities
  • The importance of robust risk management for high-risk perpetrators, and the role of employers in identifying and supporting staff affected by abuse

These lessons aim to drive systemic improvements, ensuring earlier identification of risk and more effective protection for victims.
