Young Carers Day - Tuesday 26 September 2017

The third annual Salford Young Carers' Day took place on 26 September, a day to celebrate the thousands of young people in the city who have to take on caring roles within their families. Some of them are lone carers, living alone with the person they care for whilst others may be the main carer in a household, and in some cases caring for more than one person.

This day was very important to them as it allowed their peers, and adults in contact with them, to acknowledge and celebrate the very important role they play every day in the life of our city.

The day started with breakfast for a number of young carers with Councillor Walsh, in the Ceremonial Mayors Parlour at the Civic Centre, and ended with a huge showcase event 'There's More Than Meets The Eye' at the The Lowry Theatre. In between a number of schools held assemblies, events and awareness raising sessions.
