Age Concern Salford exists to improve the quality of life for all older people in Salford through the provision of support and direct services

Organisation's key targets
- To improve the health and wellbeing of older people and their carers  through the provision of advocacy, direct services and support
- To provide direct services to older people that alleviate their isolation or risk of isolation
- To seek out and elicit the views of older people and their carers
- To represent the stated needs and wishes of the older population, both by encouraging them to speak for themselves and by local and national action
- To market ourselves effectively in order to raise awareness of our work and to expand opportunities for income generation and fundraising
- To ensure that all aspects of our activity maximise the organisation's resources and potential

Organisation's main activities in 2007
- Strategic Planning for 2007 - 2010
- Review existing services (eg, information, day centres, hospital discharge, advocacy, dementia outreach support, buddies, social rehabilitation, befriending, community involvement, campaigning, trading)
- Further development of community empowerment and participation work
- To increase the wellbeing of people aged 50+ through increasing confidence, skills and economic activity
- To support and develop volunteering opportunities in partnership with Volunteer Salford
- To build on and develop new opportunities for intergenerational activities, contributing to increased community cohesion and reducing fear of crime.

- a trustee of New Bridge, a charity founded in 1973 to be-friend prisoners and prevent reoffending
- a trustee and finance committee member of Age Concern England
- a trustee and founder member of Rachel House Trust, a charity founded to house and support homeless young people aged 16-21
- a trustee and vice chair of Salford Council for Voluntary Services
- a chair of the Volunteering Partnership and Age Concern, the federation
- a member and previous chair of the National Justice and Peace Network
