All general acute hospital services including maternity and neonates, but excluding mental health are provided on a city-wide basis and intestinal failure services are provided at a national level. Sector Public, however as a foundation trust (FT), SRFT is no longer accountable to the Department of Health. Instead, the Trust is accountable to their membership and are required to report regularly to Monitor, the independent regulator of foundation trusts. Organisation's aims/vision The Trust's core purpose is to provide clinical, academic and service excellence and to strive for these on the basis that what matters most of all is patient experience. The Trust seeks to add value to the patient experience by making it more : safe, effective, efficient, convenient and patient centred. The Trust developed a five-year Strategic Service Development Plan (SDS) in 2005, the key themes of which have been pursued in following years to deliver these aims. Organisation's key targets The organisation publishes key objectives annually which include key performance targets taken from the Healthcare Commission performance standards for Acute Hospital Trusts. Other objectives are drawn from local initiatives such as the hospital's redevelopment. Organisation's main activities in 2007 Objectives for April 2007 to March 2008 will be published in the Trust's annual plan in early June 2007. These objectives will again be based on the SDS, the Healthcare Commission standards and local developments. Additional information SRFT is a founding member of SHIFT (Salford Health Investment for Tomorrow) programme, established in 2001. The membership also includes the primary care trust, the city council and the universities of Salford and Manchester. As a teaching organisation, the Trust has good links with various academic institutions and a number of staff are involved in research associated with many aspects of medicine and broader healthcare. The Trust's teaching and research directorate have recently integrated with the PCT teaching and research function. It is anticipated that amongst the benefits of this integration will be improved population research opportunities. | |
