Community
Plan progress
The scenario planning activities are now complete. The final workshop
took place on 22nd April at the Digital World Centre. The aim of this last workshop was to agree a provisional
vision statement for Salford and to identify the key actions which need to be delivered in the short,
medium and long term in order to achieve this vision. There was a general consensus that the preferred
vision for Salford involved a rapid rate of change in the city's knowledge and skills mix, along with
a continuation of the shift towards Salford's service providers working in partnership with the local
community. The results of the scenario planning process will now be taken forward to inform Salford's
second Community Plan. Read the minutes from the Community Plan Review Cabinet Working
Group meetings here or take a look at the fifty drivers for change in Salford.
Stand
up for Salford: 0161 909 6510
You may have noticed a campaign running in the Manchester
Evening News called "Stand up for Salford". The campaign began last week and focuses on how
people who live or work in, or have links with Salford, need to stand up and be counted in contributing
to change in the city. The council, in cooperation with the police have set up a helpline - 0161
909 6510 - which will operate between 7am and 2am for the duration of the campaign. Any member
of the public can use this number to give information to the police or the city council.

Neighbourhood Renewal Fund
evaluation
Salford City Council and Partners IN Salford have recently appointed
ECOTEC to undertake a review of the impact, operation and future focus of the Neighbourhood Renewal
Fund in Salford. The selection and management of the consultants is being undertaken by the NRF Evaluation
Task Group, comprising members from a range of partners. The consultants will provider a full written
report and present their findings at the next LSP meeting in July 2005. A key outcome of the evaluation
will be the development of a medium-term allocation strategy for NRF in Salford in 2006-07 and beyond.
At the time of writing, the Neighbourhood Renewal Unit has not yet issued any information on NRF allocations
beyond 2005-06.
