An inclusive city
Strategic aim
To ensure that all our citizens have the resources and support they need to participate fully in the life of their community and in society generally
Priority 1: To close the inequalities gap in Salford
Aim: To bring about rapid change for the better in the most deprived neighbourhoods and communities in the city
Through this objective we will make sure that we focus our resources and activities on the most deprived areas, communities and excluded groups, find innovative solutions to difficult problems in partnership, including communities and residents as part of the solution, improve benefit take up and explore ways to increase access to affordable credit, banking services and financial literacy
Priority 2: Active and engaged citizens
Aim: To enable and support all individuals to play a full role in their community
We will ensure that strong and positive relationships are developed between people from different backgrounds and support and develop individuals' skills so that they can be involved in decision-making
Priority 3: Influential citizens in cohesive communities
Aim: To build cohesion by enabling communities, especially excluded communities, to influence decision-making in the city
Through this priority we will empower groups and communities to be more involved in decision-making, promote involvement by local people in the engagement mechanisms of all partner organisations and uphold the codes of conduct outlined in the Salford Compact.
