Safer, Stronger Communities Fund

The Safer and Stronger Communities Fund (SSCF) was introduced for all local authorities in England in April 2005.

The Fund brings together Department for Communities and Local Government and Home Office funding streams aimed at tackling crime, anti-social behaviour and drugs, empowering communities, and improving the condition of streets and public spaces; in particular for disadvantaged neighbourhoods where these issues often require more attention. In Salford these neighbourhoods are in Winton and Little Hulton.

During 2006-07, 54 separate projects were funded in the city, and overall have made a significant impact. Particularly successful projects include:
