Performance Management of the Agreement
What is performance management?
Performance management is monitoring the quality of public services being provided in the city. Monitoring performance enables the partnership to identify where services are performing well and where there needs to be improvement, with the objective of improving services and the quality of life of Salford people.
Having an effective system for monitoring performance allows us to:
- recognise which services need to improve
- record where services are delivering well
- monitor whether we are on track to deliver future targets
- analyse evidence that enables us to change service delivery
- influence resource allocation
- identify where joint working can improve performance
- inform strategic decision making
How will we monitor the Agreement?
We need to understand how all of the public service deliverers in the partnership are performing, so we need one place where everyone agrees to store and share this information. The strategic partnership agreed to use Salford City Council's online performance management framework (PMF) to monitor our progress in the Salford Agreement. The PMF has been enhanced and developed for this purpose. The PMF will allow us to:
- plan the prioritisation of services to meet the needs of the community, monitor services being delivered at ward level and see where improvements are being made
- assess and manage risk to underperforming services
- assess how services provide value for money for the tax payer
- identify and share best practice
