Improving community engagement
Salford has a long and proud history of community engagement. Community committees were established in the city over ten years ago. This method of working with communities in their neighbourhood has progressed to what is now an effective and comprehensive system, supported by all partners and acknowledged nationally as good practice.
In addition there are many effective examples of community engagement which we will use the Agreement to build upon, notably the work that has been carried out to complete the city's community safety strategy and the Children and Young people's Plan.
We still have much work to do through the Agreement. We need to increase the diversity within community committees and enhance other engagement structures in the city so that people can make their views heard outside of the committee room. We will also work closely with the community and voluntary sector
